BKC and its suppliers are very supportive of eco-friendly products and initiatives.
Each of our manufacturers has been certified by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association’s (KCMA) Environmental Stewardship Program. The KCMA administered program is designed to encourage and recognize manufacturers that employ the use of environmentally responsible materials in the production of their products. The program also identifies those companies that seek to minimize the environmental impact on their local communities by recycling wastes and using low emissions coatings. Those businesses achieving this certification are going beyond the minimum requirements and are demonstrating leadership in growing a sustainable company.

Crystal Cabinet Works has been a leader in the development and use of eco-friendly products. Crystal was directly involved in the development of the KCMA’s Environmental Stewardship Program.

Complementary Choices

Consider choosing Lyptus as your wood species, a premium-grade hardwood that is grown in South America on highly productive plantations. Lyptus is mixed with indigenous trees to preserve and sustain native ecosystems. It has a short renewal cycle and can be harvested in just 14-16 years, compared to 50-70 years for North American hardwood.

Lyptus ranges in color from red to brown, resembling mahogany, and is available from Crystal in an array of beautiful dark stains. Another option is Bamboo, a rapidly-renewable plant-based product. Bamboo, a fast growing grass is strong, durable and finishes beautifully with many of the same characteristics as wood. Bamboo doors can be manufactured with low-emitting Green-Core substrate.
